When I Left the Crown Behind

As someone who loves coffee and my cat more than partying and going out on the town, I certainly have a mind for imagination.

Since I was a young girl, ideas would flow into my mind like leaves in the wind, but just like a leaf in the wind, if you don’t catch it out of the air it will fall to the ground.

 

Growing up I was never interested in reading, but I always had a talent for writing and ideas. When I finally started to get into reading a single idea hit me. It was the “what if this person was in this situation” thought. Now, I don’t know what I would do without writing or reading.
When I finally started to write my first book, it didn’t feel right, it was missing something. It was missing that spark. When I started writing again, I wasn’t sure if this would lead me anywhere, but after thirteen chapters I quickly realized that whatever this was there was a spark. After finishing that book and realizing that no agent would want to pick up a new author’s 280k-word novel, I shelved that project and wrote a much shorter book, When I Left the Crown Behind.

Coffee, pumpkin chai tea, my cat (Bonnie), and my family are some of the things that keep me going as I pursue my career as an author.
